How do I know which laser treatment is right for me?
- Every laser visit at Premier Med Spa of Lake Oswego begins with a personalized consultation. Our clinical team reviews your skin, goals, and medical history, then recommends the treatment — or combination of treatments — that is most appropriate. Not every laser is right for every patient, and we will tell you directly if a different approach will serve you better.
Is laser treatment painful?
- Comfort varies by treatment, skin sensitivity, and area. Our Harmony XL Pro SHR laser is designed to be virtually painless for hair removal. IPL is often described as a brief, warm snap, and facial vein and pore treatments are generally well tolerated. We will walk through what each session feels like before you begin.
Is there downtime after a laser treatment?
- Most of our laser and IPL treatments are designed with little to no downtime. Mild redness, warmth, or short-term sensitivity after treatment is common and resolves on its own. We always recommend strict sun protection for treated skin and will give you specific aftercare guidance for each visit.
How many sessions will I need?
- Most laser protocols are delivered as a series rather than a single visit. Laser hair removal is typically 6–10 sessions, laser pore reduction is generally about five sessions, and other treatments are personalized to your concern and skin response. Your consultation includes a realistic, written plan.
Can laser treatments be combined with other services?
- Yes — many patients pair laser care with treatments like ClearLift, HydraFacial, Morpheus8, or Botox® Cosmetic. We sequence treatments thoughtfully so that each one supports the next, rather than competing.
Are laser treatments safe for darker skin tones?
- Our Harmony XL Pro platform is selected in part for its ability to treat a broad range of skin types safely. Candidacy for a specific treatment still depends on your individual skin, hair, and medical history — which is exactly what your consultation is designed to evaluate.
Am I a candidate for treatment?
- Most healthy adults are candidates, but eligibility depends on your skin type, medical history, medications, and treatment goals. That is exactly what your consultation is designed to evaluate — and we will tell you honestly if a different treatment, or no treatment, is the right call.
Does microneedling hurt?
- Microneedling is generally well tolerated, though most patients experience some degree of discomfort during treatment. To maximize comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied before your session. Patients commonly describe the sensation as mild pressure, vibration, or a light scratching feeling across the skin. Areas with thinner skin, such as the forehead or around the mouth, may feel more sensitive. Treatments that combine radiofrequency energy, such as Morpheus8, can create additional warmth and intensity. Our providers adjust treatment settings based on your comfort level and goals.
How much downtime should I expect after microneedling or Morpheus8?
- Downtime depends on the depth and type of treatment performed. Traditional microneedling typically results in redness and mild sensitivity for 24–72 hours, similar to a moderate sunburn. Morpheus8 treatments may produce redness, swelling, and a grid-like texture that can last several days, with most patients returning to normal social activities within 3–7 days. Full collagen remodeling continues for weeks after treatment, with improvements becoming more visible over time.
When will I see results?
- It depends on the treatment. Some treatments — such as HydraFacial, ClearLift, and IPL — can produce visible improvement within days. Others, including microneedling, Morpheus8, and Exilis, stimulate collagen and continue improving for several weeks to months as the skin remodels.
How long do results last?
- Results vary by treatment and by lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and skincare. Maintenance sessions are often recommended to preserve long-term outcomes, and we map out a realistic maintenance plan with you at consultation.
Can I wear makeup after treatment?
- It depends on the procedure. Many laser and IPL treatments allow makeup within 24 hours, while microneedling and Morpheus8 often require waiting 24–48 hours. Your provider will give you specific aftercare guidance for your treatment.
What should I avoid before and after treatment?
- To protect your skin and your results, we generally recommend avoiding sun exposure and tanning products, certain skincare ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliants, and excessive heat, saunas, and strenuous exercise for a short period after treatment. Your provider will give you a personalized pre- and post-treatment plan.
